BSC/DATAFILL ENGINEER                                             


We’re currently seeking a highly experienced Nokia BSC/Datafill Engineer for long-term work in Redmond, WA to create and implement BSC datafill in support of BTS integration activities throughout the region for a major wireless carrier.


This position will be responsible for:

·         Compilation, creation and coordination of BSC datafill data into formatted excel templates based on data input from the customer.  This will include seeking and gathering all datafill components (Transport, RF Frequencies, E911, Switch parameters, ABIS mapping, etc.) from members of the cross-functional team.

·         Loading of datafill into the BSC to facilitate BTS implementation.

·         Providing integration support to BTS field teams from installation through customer site acceptance.

·         BTS and BSC alarm/issue troubleshooting and technical support.

·         Tracking, notification and communication of data and key components between various groups in order to meet project milestones and ensure a smooth work flow with timely and efficient completion of project goals.

·         Provide local support to our partners and customers in the planning and execution of BSC engineering as it relates to BTS implementation and datafill management.

Qualifications:

·         Expert level knowledge of the Nokia BSC, strong system level understanding and knowledge of GSM standards.

·         5+ years experience in GSM BSS Network Engineering and GSM Network Implementation.

·         Working knowledge of Nokia BTS components and complex dual-band configurations.

·         Must be proficient with various programming languages such as Excel Visual Basic programming, Unix, SQL, XML.

·         Solid understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, internetworking, Routing/Bridging and switching standards.

·         Strong computer skills, able to work flexible hours, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure in a diverse and dynamic environment with a variety of people.

·         Excellent communication, customer and leadership skills.

·         Self motivated and well organized individual who can prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with relative autonomy.


- Salary is open, but will depend on experience.

- Customer contract is expected to last 12 months and is renewable.

- Position is eligible for employee or direct contract status, DOE.

GSM Field Technician I

 

  • Read and understand site drawings to install BTS, power and E911 solutions on site, according to guidelines and specifications.
  • Safe and proficient use of hand and power tools as needed to satisfy equipment implementation requirements.
  • Proficient in Installation and Commissioning of BTS, Power and E911 equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate both a truck / trailer / box truck
  • Has a clean driving record / Must currently hold a valid drivers license.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Willingness to travel regionally (WA, OR, N ID) on an as-needed basis for work deployment.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50-70 pounds.
  • Ability to work outside, in various work conditions.
  • Ability to observe and follow work safety requirements.
  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to correctly complete all project documentation in a timely manner as required by Field Management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Must have own basic tools.
  • Must be detail oriented, with clean work habits.
  • Must be responsible and safety conscious.

GSM Field Technician II

  • Ability to efficiently work in an un-supervised environment
  • Ability to successfully perform all of the various scopes of work involving BTS / Site Implementation:
    • Site Survey
    • Installation (Power, Telco, RF, Cabinet mounting, etc.)
    • Commissioning (BTS, E911 and Power Support cabinets as required by project)
    • Integration (Call testing, RF Verification)
    • Quality Inspection / Punch list Clearing
    • Basic understanding and troubleshooting skills relating to:
      • T1 / Microwave / Fiber transmission
      • RF Lines / Cabling
      • Power
